Orfeo RAW Presents: PAPER CITY PHOENIX by Walt McGough

About the Play:
Brenna’s been depressed since Paul disapeared, but when she tries to
end it all, she is rudely interrupted by a lightning bolt. Now she
can’t stop channeling the Internet and she’s feeling kind of buzzy, and
has new will to find Paul. She turns to Paul’s sister, Gale, for help,
but Gale’s handling Paul’s disappearance in her own interesting way.
Both women, an anti-Tech cult, the FBI, and the Internet itself will be
involved before it’s over, and the city will never be the same. An
explosive comedy about how we connect when we’re always connected,
PAPER CITY PHOENIX explores what’s left when the universe hits the
delete key.

The Sparrow

The Sparrow

Stoneham’s super ‘Sparrow’ soars, by Jenna Scherer, Boston Herald

Just as misfits sometimes make the best caped crusaders, strange little troupes sometimes produce the best theater. Take The Sparrow, an ensemble piece that’s odd, daring and earnest. That it’s all these things and also commercially appealing is nothing short of superhuman.”

The Sparrow offers a lively mix of fantasy, comedy, drama, music, and dance that you will not soon forget., By Howie Green, Edge Boston

Just when you think you’ve seen everything that live theatre has to offer along comes a play that is so cleverly staged and imaginatively presented that it could very well make you rethink everything you know about theatrical productions. The Sparrow is that play and if you want to see one of the best live stage performances to ever hit Boston then you need to get over to the Stoneham Theatre before November 8 to see its East Coast premiere.”

‘The Sparrow’ brings sweet science fiction to Stoneham Stage, by Amanda Mantone, Beverly Citizen

“Rare is the show that touches on so many themes so effectively, or which draws audiences so believably into an imagined world that’s also so startlingly close to our own. The Sparrow tackles such forces with gusto, and the greater Boston theater universe is richer for it.”

‘The Sparrow’ Soars at Stoneham Theatre, by Mark Sardella, Wakefield Daily Item

“The Sparrow is an inventive and original play that combines a comic book aesthetic and a cinematic style – achieving a result that is artistic yet accessible and approachable.”

“The Sparrow”, By Larry Stark, The Theater Mirror

“Comic-book companies these days are busy trying to turn their old familiar “Trade-Marked” characters into movie scripts, and can’t be bothered to invent any new heroes. But that’s exactly what creator-director Nathan Allen did with The SPARROW! And he has brought the result of his collaboration with writers Chris Mathews and Jake Minton and his House Theatre of Chicago, plus his “Projection Designer” Lucas Merino and young star Dillan Arrick, to the Stoneham Theatre. They and an exciting, excited young local cast are enthusiastically creating “an origin-story” and, along the way, inventing new ways to bring the graphic aspects of comic art into play live on stage. Wow.”

“The Sparrow: An unusual theatrical experience”, By Sheila Barth, The Theater Mirror

“Although Halloween is over, The Sparrow is like a Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock thriller, gently leading us to one surprise after another, aided by a large screen (projection design by Lucas Merino) and realistic stage effects that keep us entranced throughout.”

Closes November 8th, see it before it’s too late! http://www.stonehamtheatre.org/thesparrow.html

Mr. RobertsJon will be playing the role of Ensign Pulver in New Repertory Theatre’s production of Mister Roberts

New Repertory Theatre

September 13-October 3, 2009

A drama by Thomas Heggen and Joshua Logan and directed by Kate Warner. Bravery, honor, grace…and rowdy rebellion. In this 1948 Tony Award-winning classic, a restless crew aboard a cargo vessel idling in the South Pacific is desperately craving some onshore action. When the comedic ensemble clashes with their tyrannical captain, it is Mister Roberts who must bail them out. Thomas Heggen and Joshua Logan’s moving, yet humorous story of an officer, who sacrifices his personal quest for the morale of his crew, has us reflecting on one man’s search for purpose during a time of war.

“I am thrilled for my directing debut with New Rep to be the very first Tony Award-winning play, Mister Roberts. With a talented ensemble cast, it’s a classic; a humorous and moving story that is timeless.” – Kate Warner, Artistic Director
